How Height Adjustable Desks Promote A Healthier Way Of Working
The beauty of working with a height adjustable desk is it allows you to vary your working position as you feel the need.
When you spend long hours sitting at work every day as the day wears on you tend to feel the strain more and this is when aches and pains build up. This is hardly surprising because humans aren’t designed to sit for such long periods of time.
Consequently, it pays to vary your work routine and get out of your chair from time to time and stretch and maybe do some exercises.
And this is where an adjustable height workstation really helps because it allows you to work in both a sitting and standing position, as you start to feel tension from sitting it’s great to be able to quickly alter your working situation and stand at your workstation.
You can even work in a semi standing posture with a chair like the HÅG Capisco, giving yet another healthy alternative work position.
The simple act of positional change during the day will improve your energy levels as well as boosting blood circulation and reducing musculoskeletal problems caused by sitting for excessive periods.
By doing this you tend to automatically feel more active and engaged with your work. Muscles benefit from the movement this alternative way of performing your daily work and it just helps keep you more focused on your tasks.
The extra activity of sit stand working also helps improve the body’s ability to burn off calories which tends to stagnate when sitting all day.
Moving desks come in several different formats and this article explains the various types of height adjustable desk and how they work. Until reading this article I was unaware HAG had designed the capisco 8126. Is this chair suitable as a long therm task chair when working at a normal height desk, or does it really only suit high or height adjustable desks? Also, it does not appear to ahve forward tilt, but I guess this is not required due to the ‘saddle’ nature of it? Thanks once more.
Thanks for your question Chris, the 8126 was introduced as an option for people who preferred the look and feel of a more conventional office seat rather than a saddle seat. So, yes it will work well as a task chair at a normal height desk, because it is very like a normal chair.
However the saddle version is by far the more popular choice and whilst great for sit stand desks it will also work with standard desks. Although users under 5’ 6’’ tall might find it wasn’t so great with a fixed 29’’ high desk.
The reason there is no forward tilt is due to the saddle design which would be very difficult to use with a forward tilting action. Probably the 8126 would be OK but it just isn’t an option on these chairs.
